We got married at Mercury Hall, a venue right in the heart of South Austin. It was a crisp, but Sunny day in January (the Texas weather gods blessed us). We had a small wedding of about 75 people. It was very important to both of us that we were very close with every single person in attendance. We wanted to show each guest our love by writing everyone a personal, hand written note (took forever but was so worth it). We placed the love notes on everyone’s dinner plates so they got a fun little surprise when they found their seats for the reception. And we also each wrote a surprise note for the other which we got to read when we sat down to dinner.

Let me start off by saying I became a Beatles fan in 2020. I know that’s a weird thing to say because like, where have I been? But during the pandemic I had some spare time (okay lots of spare time) to finally sit down and listen to the entire Beatles catalogue. And I can confidently now say…I’m a Paul girly. That all being said, I love The Beatles and I love a good wedding day surprise! And Lauren gave me the opportunity to put those two loves together…

It was January of 2019. We had just arrived in New York City (our favorite city in the world other than Austin!) to play a couple shows. We had decided to go a little early to enjoy the city for a few days and let’s be honest – eat every bagel in sight. Jordan had booked us an AirBnb in The Village nearby our favorite comedy and jazz clubs, and we were all showered up and ready to go to dinner. We were just strolling around, taking in the sights in the beautiful crisp Winter air and decided to walk through Washington Square Park.

This bohemian Winter wedding was one of my all time faves. Ben and Alicia’s love is lighthearted, fun, and steadfast and it was an absolute pleasure to play for their wedding ceremony! It was a cold November day and I was so thankful to find a random pair of gloves in my wait for it…glove compartment. With fingers toasty warm, I sat down to play the prelude music.

One word comes to mind when I picture Jenny + Ian’s intimate Washington wedding: glamptastic. I was so honored when they asked Jordan and I to travel all the way to Washington to celebrate with them! They chose Cama Beach State Park as their venue and weekend getaway destination. Cama Beach is on the southwest shore of Camano Island facing Saratoga Passage in north Puget Sound. It’s a 1930s-era Puget Sound fishing resort complete with waterfront cedar cabins and bungalows that feel like you’ve just stepped backwards in time. Or onto the set of Moonrise Kingdom. Either way, it was a weekend I’ll never forget.

Now, let me just say – I absolutely adore micro weddings. There is something so intimate and magical about experiencing your most special day with your most special people. Emma Cate & Matt got married on a beautiful March day surrounded by about 20 of their closest friends and family. There was nothing but love and warmth emanating throughout the day and every person there felt like they were in on a secret. This wedding seriously felt like a French countryside scene from a renaissance painting. From the intricate table settings, scenic field views, and romantic candelabras, to Emma Cate’s leaf motif veil that matched her lacy dress, it was just a dream.
