Picture a crisp January evening, pink & red flowers everywhere, and the giggliest ceremony of all time – that was Sammi & Zach’s day. When we first started talking about their wedding vision, Sammi explained she was very much in her “Lover” era and wanted the whole day to reflect that. In fact, her exact words to me were, “My only request is as much Taylor Swift as possible.” Say less.
There’s just something about a micro-wedding, and this one was truly special. Sammi and Zach chose an outdoor ceremony followed by an intimate indoor dinner party with around 20 of their closest friends and family. We performed as an acoustic duo for the ceremony, setting the tone as guests arrived with soft acoustic love songs like “This Is How You Fall in Love” by Jeremy Zucker & Chelsea Cutler. The processional was beautifully simple—beginning with their aunt, who officiated the ceremony, followed by Zach, and then Sammi. We played “Daylight” by Taylor Swift as each of them walked down the aisle, gradually building the intensity to create a powerful, emotional entrance for Sammi. I think Taylor would’ve been proud.
After the ceremony, guests transitioned inside for a short cocktail hour, then into the main room for a beautiful candlelit dinner, some of the most heartfelt toasts I’ve ever heard, and some live tunes by yours truly. We played “Coming Home” by Leon Bridges for their first dance and everyone ate and laughed and just enjoyed each other’s company.
At one point during the evening, an older gentlemen who had been using a walker, stood up, took his wife’s hand and they began to dance to our music. I got an email from his wife a few days after the wedding thanking us for the music and explaining how special that was for them. She said they loved to dance at weddings but he was having hip problems and they weren’t sure they’d be able to dance that night. Being able to share that moment together meant everything to them, and it was incredibly sweet to witness. Just another reason why I love what I do so much!!
