Our Engagement Story

It was January of 2019. We had just arrived in New York City (our favorite city in the world other than Austin!) to play a couple shows. We had decided to go a little early to enjoy the city for a few days and let’s be honest - eat every bagel in sight. Jordan had booked us an AirBnb in The Village nearby our favorite comedy and jazz clubs, and we were all showered up and ready to go to dinner. We were just strolling around, taking in the sights in the beautiful crisp Winter air and decided to walk through Washington Square Park.

We stopped to chat on a park bench and I noticed Jordan was acting strange. Not really talking much and getting nervous (but cute) and jittery. I had a passing thought that *maybe* he would propose on this trip but no, there’s no way he would bring a ring on a plane all the way across the country…right? So I pushed the idea out of my mind. Then his hand shot to his pocket. My heart raced. But no, it was just a Kleenex. We carried on chatting a while longer and I didn’t think about it again. Until suddenly - he was on the ground with a box in his hand! He really took me by surprise and it was the sweetest, loveliest, most memorable, joyful moment of my life. Alone in the park in our favorite city. Just him and I. I absolutely can’t wait to marry him and start the rest of our lives together!
