Real Wedding: Ani + Andrew
“Mikaela was an absolute dream to work with! Her and her guitarist, Matt, played for my ceremony in October and I couldn't have asked for a better musical backdrop to our ceremony. Leading up to the ceremony, Mikaela was always prompt with responses and super helpful with suggestions. We had a clear vision of what songs we wanted for the ceremony and she was incredibly accommodating, even with some of our special requests. I'll never forget the emotions going through me walking down the aisle to Butterflies by Kacey Musgraves. It's a song that meant a lot to us as a couple and Mikaela really brought it to life. I had so many guests come up to comment about how beautiful her voice was and how touching the music was as part of the ceremony. One guest was a musician and was so impressed that she even asked for Mikaela's contact info to reach out to her for vocal lessons! If you're on the fence at all about hiring Mikaela, absolutely do it and you won't regret it! She added so much heart and soul to our ceremony and I'm infinitely grateful!” - Ani C (ceremony)
This celestial October wedding was seriously stunning. I am a sucker for all things moody, twinkly, and whimsical, and somehow this wedding had it all. Dreaming up this ceremony music with Amy and Andrew was inspiring. They had a clear vision for the music and picked some of my all time favorites!
We started off the prelude with some upbeat tunes while everyone was arriving and mingling in the courtyard. Ani and Andrew chose “Home” by Edward Sharp & the Magnetic Zeroes and “You Are The Best Thing” by Ray Lamontagne to start, then we segued into some slower love songs to finish the prelude - “Latch” by Sam Smith and finally “Can’t Help Falling in Love” by Elvis. Andrew began the ceremony by walking down the aisle all alone as we played “First Day of My Life” by Bright Eyes. It was such a special moment. Those lyrics truly say it all. The family, bridal party, and doggo ring bearer followed after to our slowed down, acoustic version of “Somewhere Only We Know” by Keane. Again, those lyrics!
Next, it was Ani’s big moment. We played “Butterflies” by Kacey Musgraves and I am certain everyone there was feeling the butterflies. 🦋 Their ceremony was so beautiful unique and was filled with powerful literary quotes about love. This one really got me:
“I will love you forever; whatever happens. Till I die and after I die, and when I find my way out of the land of the dead, I’ll drift about forever, all my atoms, till I find you again… I’ll be looking for you, every moment, every single moment. And when we do find each other again, we’ll cling together so tight that nothing and no one’ll ever tear us apart. Every atom of me and every atom of you… We’ll live in birds and flowers and dragonflies and pine trees and in clouds and in those little specks of light you see floating in sunbeams… And when they use our atoms to make new lives, they won’t just be able to take one, they’ll have to take two, one of you and one of me, we’ll be joined so tight…” - The Amber Spyglass, by Philip Pullman
After their heartfelt exchange of vows, their ring bearer, Shadow performed his ring bearing duties like the very good boy he is, and just like that - they were married! We sang them out to “Marry You” by Bruno Mars and they danced off into the best night of their lives. Thank you so much for having us! We had the best time. ☺️❤️
