Real Wedding: Molly + Cody

“Mikaela and her team were fantastic! Such a great addition to the ceremony. Absolutely set the tone we were looking for. Her voice is amazing. All of our guests were commenting on the music as wonderful. One of the best hires of the wedding process.” - Mary D (ceremony)

This church wedding ceremony was the epitome of traditional romance with a touch of Christmas magic. Honestly, I don’t know what’s better than a Christmas wedding. They’re basically a Hallmark movie come-to-life and I am 100% HERE for it. 🎄✨

I played piano and sang for this beautiful ceremony at Riverbend Church in Austin. I got to play the church’s gorgeous grand piano, accompanied by guitar and upright bass. It’s not often that I have the pleasure of playing with a trio for ceremonies, but it is always so wonderful when I do! We played a blend of elegant love songs with a classical lean. For the prelude music they chose “All I Ask of You” from the Phantom of the Opera, “Hallelujah” by Leonard Cohen, Bach’s “Jesu Joy of Man’s Desiring”, and a contemporary worship favorite “Holy Spirit”. This really set the tone and focused everyone’s attention to the seriousness of the ceremony that was about to take place.

The ceremony began with the family’s processional to “What a Wonderful World” by Louis Armstrong, followed by “At Last” by Etta James for the bridal party. Next, was Molly’s big moment! Everyone stood as she walked down the aisle to Pachelbel’s “Cannon in D” in her stunning blusher veil, looking like an actual Christmas princess. Early in the planning process bride’s mother had shared with me that “The Wedding Song” by Peter Paul and Mary was a very special song to her. It was played at her wedding and she wanted to find a special moment for us to play it for her daughter’s ceremony. We decided that it would be the perfect accompaniment to their chord tying ceremony. We played it lightly while they performed the chord tying, linking both generations together. Like I said before - Hallmark. Movie. They said their vows, tied that knot, had there first kiss as a married couple, and danced down the aisle as we played “This Will Be” by Natalie Cole.

It was truly such an enchanting day and we were so grateful to be part of it! Congratulations Molly & Cody! ❤️

Highlights: Timeless church ceremony, mini gingerbread house place settings, hot cocoa bar, all the Christmas vibes, and that VEIL.
