Winter in Austin, Texas can be all over the map. Sometimes it’s hot enough for a pool day, sometimes it feels like Spring, sometimes it’s fully raining ice. But for Sarah and Bryce, the weather gods really did their magic. Their February wedding at The Wayback was the definition of a perfect winter day — crisp air, golden sunshine, and a ceremony tucked beneath the trees, surrounded by their closest friends, family, and children. It was truly a family affair.
For the ceremony, we performed as a duo with piano, guitar, and vocals, weaving in acoustic love songs like “Wild Horses” by the Rolling Stones, “Better Together” by Jack Johnson, and “Shallow” by Lady Gaga. The family, junior bridesmaids, and flower girls made their entrance to “Wildflowers” by Tom Petty before the moment everyone was waiting for: Sarah’s walk down the aisle. Arm in arm with her brother, Sarah entered as we softly played “Can’t Help Falling in Love” by Elvis. Bryce fought back tears watching his bride make her way toward him. The ceremony itself was quiet, heartfelt, and deeply intentional, with readings from the children and a special worship moment set to “You Make Me Brave” by Bethel Music — a pause to simply listen, reflect, and take in the meaning of the day. After they sealed it with a kiss, Sarah and Bryce walked back down the aisle as husband and wife while we played “Can’t Take My Eyes Off of You” by Lauryn Hill.
Guests enjoyed cocktail hour with light bites and more live music, then finally made their way into the draped, glowing tent for dinner and dancing. Each place setting had a small tambourine on the table and let me tell you, the kids in attendance made full use of them. Everyone cheered and shook their tambourines as Sarah and Bryce made their grand entrance. We played “Thinking Out Loud” for their emotional first dance, and Bryce danced with his daughter to “Sugar Pie Honey Bunch”, which may have been the sweetest moment of the night.
We kept the love songs going through dinner before switching to DJ mode for a packed dance floor. At one point, the kids were jumping so hard the dance floor literally shook — a clip hilariously ended up going viral on Instagram. It was a night we’ll never forget, and we felt so honored to be part of it!
