Real Wedding: Shoshana + Graham
“Mikaela and Jordan are SUCH a great duo. They sang me down the aisle and it was truly one of the most special parts of our day. They learned our song perfectly and executed it almost better than the original artist. I wish we could do it all over again and include even more of Mikaela & Jordan! So honored they were able to travel to our wedding.” - Shoshana G (ceremony)
It wouldn’t be the Pacific Northwest without a little rain, and it wouldn’t be a wedding without a couple of tears. Shoshana + Graham’s Seattle wedding certainly had both and it couldn’t have been more perfect. And I’ll let y’all in on a little secret…I got to be both a wedding singer and a bridesmaid!
Shoshana + Graham got married amidst the evergreen trees of San Juan Island - a stunning destination just a ferry ride away from Seattle. They invited friends and family to spend the weekend with them at Lakedale Resort - an incredible property with glamping cabins, yurts, secluded campfire nooks, and a serene lake. The whole weekend was full of fun activities, exploring downtown San Juan Island, and of course - artisan smores.
The ceremony was held on a spot of grass that felt like you were floating right in the middle of the lake. We played acoustic love songs as guests filed in, grabbing umbrellas and local brews from a canoe. A misty drizzle made the scenery feel even more magical. Rich amber and blush florals stood out on a background of greenery. Again - magical.
We kicked off the ceremony with the iconic cheeky duet, “In Spite of Ourselves” by John Prine & Iris Dement as the bridal party, and Graham & his parents walked down the aisle. Next, as Shoshana emerged from the trees, we played “Alone” by Jessie Ware, a very special song for the two of them. (I will admit, it was extremely hard for me not to cry while singing her down the aisle but we somehow got through it!). After the sweetest ceremony and most heartfelt vows, Shoshana + Graham were finally husband and wife. They asked us to choose their recessional song, so we surprised them with one of our all time favorites, “Wonderful World” by Sam Cooke.
The party continued with cocktails on the deck, family-style dining with local Northwest flavors, dancing under the stars, and some late night pb&j’s with milk cartons. If you’re considering having a weekend-long glamping retreat with all your closest people, I would absolutely recommend.
Moral of the story: even if it rains on your wedding day, don’t let it rain on your parade. …Or something like that.
Highlights: A beer canoe at the ceremony, incredible scenery, post-ceremony boat ride, and late night pb&j’s.
