Real Wedding: Kanani + Art
Featured on Wed Society Austin
If you’ve been wondering about a weekday wedding…this is your sign to do it! Kanani + Art had the most zesty, fun Wednesday wedding you ever did see. They certainly partied like it was a Saturday. Their personalities shown through with every choice - a miscellaneous mix of velvet couches and wooden chairs for ceremony seating, lamps hanging from the ceiling, and vibrant pops of color at every turn.
We started as a duo for the ceremony. They wanted folky, ambient acoustic guitar for the prelude, and had some very fun requests for the ceremony itself. We played “Panbowl” by Sturgill Simpson for the processionals, and switched gears for Kanani’s bridal entrance. We started playing a twinkly instrumental piano & guitar version of Elton John’s “Your Song” as she walked down the aisle and as much as I love singing that song, it was somehow just as beautiful instrumentally. Lastly, we sang them off to "Home" by Edward Sharp and the Magnetic Zeros.
After the ceremony, we quickly transitioned into cocktail hour playing as a jazz quartet with guitar + upright bass + drums + vocals. I sang all the classics like “Fly Me to the Moon”, “The Way You Look Tonight’, and “Autumn Leaves”, as guests grabbed small bites and sipped cocktails out on the lawn. The vibes were high all night long and we had the best time!
